Floor stiffener (May 11th, 2003)

The connection from firewall to floor stiffener may bend if kicked when clinbing in or out of the cockpit. So I made an U-shaped one instead of the "L" shown at the plans

This part is a bit more difficult to make, but absolutely 'damage-proof'.

Gusset temporarily installed (needs some priming before final installation). Another unresolved problem is how to deburr inside of the sqare tubes.

Polishing Pattern (May 2nd, 2003)

This had to be done

Polishing the complete firewall (of "Nirosta" stainless steel) took much longer as expected and got me a backache. So I decided only to polish the forward side (engine compartment side).

This small Scotchbrite disc (the gray-bluish one) worked well. The machine turns not very fast in 2nd gear. This is advantageous when working with stainless, otherwise the sheet metal will heat up too much and it will bend and buckle.
