The very first beginning of my SONEX homebuild project
what has happened until now (March 2000)
This becomes the 12 ft x 4 ft worktable. Table surface (background) is split into two pieces for easier handling. Whole construction is bolted together so it may be disassembled easyly after end of project (whenever this may be). When fuselage construction is in progress then table surface can be removed and table frame be used to support fuselage. Table has been levelled to 0.1 deg using my favourite 'Smart-Level' tool.
Workbench and toolboard. Toolboard is hinged at right side, so it may be flipped. Frontside holds metric tools, backside inch tools (remember I'm living in metric world). Bandsaw at right was a good buy, however the sawblade-guides were complete crap. So I constructed an new upper guide using quality roller bearing and some stainless steel washers (see next picture).
The new guide works like a charm. This machine hardly can't wait to cut metal.
This semi-professional drillpress was one of the most expensive tools. The drivetrain got very little play (even though it came from China). I think I can also use it for dimpling the 6061 sheets (I'm still going strong with the idea to dimple surface skins and use AN flush solid rivets). My air tools are from Sioux and I like them very much. The compressor is located at the central-heating cellar and so noise pollution is minimal - however air delivery is a bit low. My air grinder will slow down after 20 seconds of operation. Maybe another 100 litre buffer air cylinder will help.
